Code of Conduct

Why The Code?

The Code is the behind the scenes stuff that let’s the rest of the world know that Mountain Biking is Bloody Great (i.e. a healthy and respectful sport, a positive life model). We want those taking part to keep taking part, and we want the locals around Mt Stromlo to want us back.

What is The Code?

It's there to make sure everyone gets a fair go. All competitors, officials, spectators, and local residents will not:
Suffer property damage
Be subject to any form of verbal or physical abuse
Suffer actions that denigrates aspects of religion, race, sexuality, or ability

How to Apply The Code?
Remember that everyone attends the Nationals for enjoyment
Show respect to your fellow riders, the officials (they have given up their time to provide this event for you), and the public (they have come to experience and share your achievements)
Be aware of your surroundings. Swear only (if you must) amongst your friends but not in line for the sausage sizzle
Don't ruin the environment with rubbish, fires, or massive skids
If you drink a lot of beer, don’t assume everyone wants to know…keep it together when in company. Even when you are drunk you are an ambassador for our sport  - don't drink to excess
Look after your mates
All local, state, and federal laws apply and the police will happily enforce them

If The Code is Ignored

The future of our sport is on the line. The Code will be enforced. You have the right to attend any resulting MTBA disciplinary hearing and you have the right to appeal. If you break the law, expect to be dealt with by the law. Know a good lawyer?
