Travelling to the Nation's capital is easy, whether you fly, drive, take a bus or train.

Fly

Fly into Canberra International Airport with QANTAS, Virgin Blue, or Brindabella Airlines. The city centre is a 10 minute drive from the airport by taxi, hire car, or shuttle bus.

QANTAS Airways

QANTAS operates daily with direct services from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide to Canberra.

Virgin operates daily with direct services from Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide to Canberra.

Brindabella Airlines

Brindabella Airlines is a QANTAS affiliate airline. Brindabella Airlines operates daily with direct services each weekday between Canberra and Newcastle (NSW), and Canberra and Albury (NSW). It also operates Sunday evening flights between Canberra and Newcastle. All flights are in 18 passenger, turbo-prop, Metroliner aircraft.

Drive

With a good highway system linking Canberra to surrounding New South Wales, driving to Canberra is simple. Stop at the Canberra & Regional Visitors Centre at 330 Northbourne Avenue for helpful information on your way into town.

From Sydney

Direct Driving Route: 3 hours
Leave Sydney via the M5 tollway, connecting to Hume Highway 31. Turn off after Goulburn onto the Federal Highway

From Melbourne

Direct Driving Route: 7 hours
Follow the City Link tollway to the Western Ring Road, connecting to the Hume Highway. Near Yass, take the Barton Highway turnoff to Canberra.

From Adelaide

Direct Driving Route: 12 hours
Take the South Eastern freeway towards the Mallee Highway and Sturt Highway. At Yass, take the Barton Highway turnoff to Canberra.

From Brisbane

Direct Driving Route: 16 hours
Follow the Pacific Highway south to Sydney then take the Hume Highway to Goulburn, turning onto the Federal Highway to Canberra.

From the Snowy Mountains

Direct Driving Route: 2.5 hours
Follow the Kosciusko Road to Cooma, and then follow the Monaro Highway to Canberra.

From the South Coast

Direct Driving Route: 2 hours
Take the Kings Highway to Queanbeyan and continue on to Canberra.
